09-26-08 - Mechcom Dot Net has two of the older style systems tore down. 60' of tower 1 has been removed and all of tower 3 is now tore down. ...
Also, Portage county area now has 2.4Ghz options as well. Though our 900Mhz system is working very well, we have decided to take advantage of our rather high broadcast points to extend range to adjacent counties. The previous systems will remain and continue to grow. The 2.4 is just an addition to current systems.
08-20-08 - Mechcom Dot Net has started the "tear down" project in Ashland County. All the older out dated wireless cells are either being upgraded, or pulled down completely. The increased range and throughput of current radios makes the current number of towers in the Ashland area too high. A green light has also be given from management to implement the next phase of "FreeNet". Tower 1 in the city of Ashland will be converted to Freenet once the current equipment is tore down. This will offer totally FREE broadband to Ashland city residents. Use any wireless device and locate any AP (broadcaster) with the essid (name) of "mechfreenet" and just click connect. No user name/password will be required. An IP will be automatically assigned to you when your computer connects to the AP. This is just one way to show our thanks to the city of Ashland for helping us get started with our wireless company.
